Rise And Fire - Big 12 Basketball Morning Link Dump for 8/26/2011

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Every year my fantasy football league heads up to the mountains for a weekend of drunken debauchery and fake team drafting. This year the draft will take place in Breckenridge, and as luck would have it, one of the stages of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge is ending on Saturday while we're up there. Meaning what is usually a dead weekend in Breck will be an estimated 80,000 strong this year. So as we ramp up for what always ends up being a week long hangover, we sip through the web for information on each Big 12 basketball team.
Check these links, then come back each day for updated information. If you have any links of interest, post them in the comments section or send them to me for inclusion tomorrow.

TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS
CBS Sports - Some clarifications on Gillispie, Texas Tech (h/t Double-T Nation)

- Billy Gillispie and former assistant Chris Beard were never physically separated by Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt.
- They were never separated because Beard and Gillispie were never involved in a physical altercation. Ever.
- Gillispie was never outright verbally abusive toward Beard, so speculation of that behavior is incorrect. It never happened and never had an impact on Beard choosing to leave Tech's program earlier this summmer.

OTHER BASKETBALL NEWS
Apparently it's 'former Big 12ers' day.

ESPN (Dana O'Neil) - Mike Anderson hits the ground running
Ken Pom - Andre Roberson

Nobody is sitting around contemplating Roberson's rate stats and dismissing his performance out of hand because his physique doesn't fit the stats. Too many people just don't know about him or even how to pronounce his last name. (It's the same as the family in this 1994 smash comedy.) Much of it has to do with him not being a blue-chip recruit out of college, and that there were more productive players on CU's roster last season, at least in terms of producing things called "points".
