Former Iowa State and Memphis basketball player Shawn Taggart has a 101-year-old grandmother. That's cool. She was shot in the neck this weekend when two of her grandsons (Ed. Note: neither of which were Shawn) started firing at each other. That's not cool.

Crimson and Cream Machine - Rotnei Clarke will not be a Sooner after all

Sharp shooter and OK native Rotnei Clarke has chosen not to transfer to the University of Oklahoma. According to CBSSports.com, Clarke has instead chosen Brad Stevens and the Butler Bulldogs as the destination for his final year of eligibility. Clarke will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Lon Kruger has inherited a tough situation. Oklahoma has asked the NCAA to place its men's basketball program on two more years of probation and vacate all wins from the 2009-10 season for two major rules violations by former assistant coach Oronde Taliaferro. I know that Kruger will get the program back on track in the long run.
