Big 12 NBA Draft History: With the 21st Overall Pick...

Best Big 12 Player Drafted #21: Craig Brackins, Iowa St. Cyclones, by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2010.
Brackins didn't quite have the rookie season those of us who saw him dominate the Big 12 thought he might have.  After being drafted by the Thunder and traded to the New Orleans Hornets, Brackis was finally picked up by the Philadelphia 76ers, where he saw action in three games, and scored a total of eight points.

Other Notable Big 12 Players Drafted 21st: None.

Best Non-Big 12 Player Drafted 21st: Rajon Rondo, Kentucky Wildcats, by the Phoenix Suns in 2006.
Let's consider these two things when realizing that arguably the league's best point guard fell to the Phoenix Suns with the 21st pick of the 2006 NBA Draft.
1) Had his rights not been traded to Boston, Rondo and Steve Nash would have been on the same team.
2) Brandon Roy, Randy Foye, JJ Redick, Thabo Sefolosha, Ronnie Brewer and Quincy Douby were the guards drafted ahead of Rondo in 2006. I'd say all but the Portland Trail Blazers are reconsidering their pick.

In preparation for the 2011 NBA Draft, each day until June 23 we'll count down the best Big 12 player drafted with each pick. This list only takes into account players who played in the Big 12, so it starts with the 1997 draft. In total 70 Big 12 alumni have been selected, filling 43 of the 60 possible slots.
