Lon Kruger Gets His First Commitment for OU

New Oklahoma head basketball coach Lon Kruger and his staff have received their first commitment as junior college point guard Sam Grooms has signed on to join the Sooners.

Grooms is a 6'1" point guard from Greensboro, NC who played the last two seasons at Chipola Community College in Florida where he averaged 11 points a game last year along with five assists per contest. Some other schools who were mentioned as at least taking a look into Grooms were fellow Big 12 member Oklahoma State and former Big 12 school Nebraska.

The Sooners also have 6'9" 240 pound junior college power forward Robert Goff committed for next year as well. Goff comes from Hutchinson Community College in the Jayhawk Conference in Kansas. He committed and signed his letter of intent back in November to Oklahoma when Jeff Capel was still the head coach.

As with any new head coach at this time, Kruger is most likely out scouring to see if he can add another late recruit as well as trying to keep Goff in the mix and to honor his commitment.
