According to multiple sources, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have fired coach Pat Knight.
Knight will coach the Red Raiders in the Big 12 Tournament before being relieved of his coaching duties.
Knight just completed his third full season as the coach of Texas Tech after taking over for his dad, legendary coach Bob Knight, 20 games into the 2007-08 season.
For his career, the younger Knight is 50-60 overall and 16-42 in Big 12 play. His team had high expectations this season with a senior laden class led by John Roberson and Mike Singletary. The Red Raiders failed to meet expectations, going 5-11 in conference, finishing in a tie for 10th place.
During the four years Knight coached the Red Raiders they finished no higher than tied for seventh in the Big 12, and as low as 11th in his first full year.
Last season they finished tied for ninth in conference and made it to the quarterfinals of the NIT Tournament.
