Big 12 Conference Basketball Power Rankings - Week 15

New, 4 comments

No surprise, K-State was the big mover of the week.

1. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  27-2
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: Am I the only one that sees the dearth of marquee wins in Kansas' resume? I mean, they have a lot of wins (and some against good teams), but the Jayhawks have only beaten two top 25 squads (and Arizona is overrated) right now.

2. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  21-9
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - Up 4 spots
What Joe Says: Home win against Missouri clinched NCAA Tourney bid, road win vs. Texas improved seeding, crazy season for KSU. I had them written off for dead what couple weeks ago.

3. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  24-6
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - Down two spots
What Matt Says: Where's the panic button?! The Longhorns are either self-combusting, or trying to maximize the Big 12's NCAA Tournament bids, having lost three of four to Nebraska, Colorado and K-State (at home!).

4. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  22-7
Last Week's Record:  1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T3 - Down one spot
What Evan Says:Mizzou is in the NCAA tourney, but needs to beat KU on Saturday to secure a first round Big 12 tournament bye and a 4 seed in the Big Dance.

5. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  22-6
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - No movement
What Evan Says: Reality cuacght up toA&M in their loss to Baylor. They are still a good team and a lock for the tournament.

6. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  18-11
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: The 22-point comeback against Texas put CU on the selection committees radar. They need to sweep their final two games to climb to 9-7 in conference and secure the NCAA bid.

7. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  18-10
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T3 - Down 4 spots
What Matt Says: The Bears have some work to do, but still seem to be in decent shape according to experts. Maybe Texas will still be handing out victories to bubble squads this Saturday.

8. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  18-10
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - No movement
What Joe Says: Can't lose at home and expect to make NCAA Tourney, last year in Big 12 just like every other year in Big 12 for Big Red.

9. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  17-11
Last Week's Results: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - No movement
What Joe Says: Tough year for Travis Ford fans are waiting for arrival of LeBryan Nash next year.

10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  12-17
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 11 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: John Roberson coming out against Tech fans is just another straw on the back of a dissapointing Tech season.

11. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  12-16
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10 - Down one spot
What Matt Says: Lost a couple more games this week to push the streak to seven. But the Sooners have a couple of winnable games ahead (maybe)!

12. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  15-14
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - No movement
What Joe Says: Best thing I can say about this team is they play hard every game and make the other team work, good team to be a fan of even if wins haven't come.
