Big 12 Conference Basketball Power Rankings - Week 12

New, 2 comments

We have a new cellar dweller but the top remains the same.

1. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  20-3
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - No Movement
What Matt Says: The Longhorns' lone game of the week was a win over Texas Tech at home. It was probably closer than it should have been, but Texas has won its last eight (with four wins over the top 25).

2. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  23-1
Last Week's Record: 3-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - No Movement
What Matt Says: There haven't been many prettier offensive games played than Kansas' blow-out win over Mizzou this week. The Jayhawks also dismantled Nebraska and Texas Tech.

3. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  15-7
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: The Bears got a huge win at Texas A&M. So huge that most people overlooked their unfortunate loss in Norman.

4. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  18-6
Last Week's Record:  1-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 3 - Down one spot
What Evan Says: Simply can't win on the road.

5. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  17-5
Last Week's Record: 0-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - No movement
What Evan Says: Have the wheels fallen off? Lost four of last five and have a tough one at Colorado on Wednesday.

6. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  16-8
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10 - Up four spots
What Joe Says: Tough upcoming schedule with CU & KU, we'll see if Wildcats can steal one of those games.

7. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  15-9
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: Two straight at home might get their mojo back before a tough road game in Lawrence.

T8. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  12-10
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7 - Down one spot
What Matt Says: Before losing a close game at Oklahoma State, the Sooners had been on a four game winning streak (their longest of the season).

T8. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  16-7
Last Week's Results: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 11 - Up three spots
What Joe Says: Gutcheck win over Sooners was good to see for this team. How do they react to Darrell Williams situation?

10. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  15-7
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - Down four spots
What Joe Says: The good news for Cornhuskers is they don't have to play KU anymore.

11. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  11-13
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - Down two spots
What Evan Says: How do you stop momentum? Play what might be the toughest four game stretch in Big 12 history: KU, @UT, A&M, @Mizzou

12. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  14-10
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - No movement
What Joe Says: Should have beat K-State but things are breaking bad right now for Hoiberg & company.
