Texas Longhorns at Colorado Buffaloes Preview: Can the Buffs Get Off the Bubble

It's down to crunch times for bubble teams.  Kansas State has made its voice heard, Nebraska may be on the way out, Baylor has a lot of work ahead, but what about Colorado?  The Buffaloes started the Big 12 3-0 with wins over Missouri, K-State and Oklahoma State.  Since then, they're only 3-7 with a close win against Kansas State and wins over cellar-dwellers Iowa State and Texas Tech.  Needless to say the Buffaloes have a lot of work to do if they want to hear good news on Selection Sunday.  Winning against Texas would go a long way towards putting Colorado back on the right side of the bubble.

Colorado will need excellent games out of Alec Burks and Cory Higgins if they stand a chance.  Texas is arguably the best defensive team in the country (and really I won't take arguments, the Longhorns are unbelievable on defense), so Higgins and Burks can't expect to get easy shots.  On the other end of the floor, the Buffaloes have to find a way to stop Jordan Hamilton and--more importantly--Tristan Thompson.  Thompson will be by far the best big on the floor in Boulder, and it will be important for the Buffaloes to find some way to neutralize him offensively (both scoring and rebounding).

If I were Colorado, I'd try playing a zone at least some of the time to try and take Texas out of its offense.  Yes, Hamilton and the Texas backcourt are pretty good shooters, but I think Colorado has a much better chance if they can force Texas into taking low percentage shots.
