I have been fairly critical of the Texas A&M Aggies over the past few weeks, and - in my opinion - justifiably so. They are a top 20 team nationally, sit third in conference, yet weren't putting teams away.
That changed on Wednesday when the Aggies held the lowly Oklahoma Sooners to less than half a hundred in a 61-47 win.
Now they face a Baylor Bears team who itself is reeling. Having lost two in a row and their past three Big 12 games, the Bears are faced with a ‘must win' if they want to keep their NCAA tournament chances alive.
The Bears tournament resume is pretty bare, with their only quality win coming against A&M in an overtime victory in College Station. KenPom has Baylor as the 63rd best team in the country, meaning that they are way outside of the bubble with only a glimmer of hope of getting in.
But that glimmer might shine if Baylor can sweep the season series against A&M, and win out the rest of the their two remaining games, a winnable one at Oklahoma State followed by a season ending home game against the conference's best Texas Longhorns.
One final thing to watch for. LaceDarius Dunn is 28 points away from being the conference's all time leading scorer. With an away gae on the horizon, I suspect that Dunn will try and break the record at home.
With that in mind I think that Dunn "shooting" for the record will end up hindering Baylor and A&M will walk away with this one.
