Missouri Vs. Iowa State Preview: Can Mizzou Win First Road Game Of Conference?

To answer the headline, yes. The Missouri Tigers can win their first road game of the conference, when the Iowa St. Cyclones host them at Hilton Coliseum.

To date Mizzou is 0-5 on the road in conference - while winning their only true road game of the non-conference in a victory over Oregon - but their schedule has been top heavy to date. With road trips against the top three teams in conference- Kansas, Texas and A&M-and a game in Boulder as CU was rolling, really the only "bad" loss was at Oklahoma State, and even that can be forgiven, knowing that it took Mizzou 36 hours to travel to Stillwater because of weather.

But now begins the home stretch of the conference season. With the majority of their toughest games already finished, the Tigers should be able to start rattling off wins and improve upon their 6-5 Big 12 record. And to do so they need to start with Saturday's tilt.

All time Mizzou leads the series 146-84. In Ames, Hilton Magic is just a slight of hand, as the Tigers lead 56-47. They are also riding a six game win streak against the Clones (h/t Rock M Nation for the stats).

And if there ever was a time to look for a win, it might be against this ISU team.

After starting the season a surprising 13-2, the Clones are 1-10 in conference and suffering through a current eight game losing streak. Some of that streak can be overlooked as their last two games came against KU and A&M - while their next two are Mizzou and Texas. If ISU is looking for a second conference win, odds are they'll have to go down 10 straight times before they have a shot at home against a surprisingly tough Nebraska squad.

Back to this one. Again to answer the headline, yes Mizzou can, and will, win their first road game in Big 12 play.

The game tips at a peculiar 12:45 p.m. CT on Saturday and can be seen on ESPN3.com
