Big 12 Conference Basketball Power Rankings - Week 11

New, 8 comments

We have a new cellar dweller but the top remains the same.

1. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  19-3
Last Week's Record: 3-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - No Movement
What Matt Says: Looks like a championship team right now. Just steam rolling talented opponents home and away. Winning with great defense and solid offense. Undefeated in Big 12 play looks very attainable.

2. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  20-1
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - No Movement
What Matt Says: Shouldn't be discarded yet. They pummeled K-State this week and have talent up and down their roster. Would love to see Texas rematch in Big 12 Tourney.

3. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  17-4
Last Week's Record:  0-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: Looked about as ugly as can be in their loss to Texas. The lack of an inside game will mar them all season and into the tournament.

4. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  14-6
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: Is sneaking forward in the rankings as we speak. That said, they still lack any real signature victories.

5. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  17-4
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 3 - Down two spots
What Evan Says: One might argue this is the real Aggies team. Losing back to back to Nebraska and Texas? Not good.

6. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  15-5
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - Up two spots
What Joe Says: Didn't see it but read students rushed court after win over A&M.

7. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  11-9
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T9 - Up two spots
What Matt Says: Got a road win! Color me shocked. If they keep improving at this rate, the Sooners will be a strong NIT team next season.

8. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  14-8
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T9 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: Remember that 3-0 start for the Buffs? Me neither.

9. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  11-11
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - Up three spots
What Evan Says: Who would have thunk that Tech would be on a three game win streak? We'll see if they are for real tonight at home against Kansas.

10. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  14-8
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - Down four spots
What Joe Says: The hits just keep on coming with Wally Judge leaving. Time to go back to debating why Bill Snyder is keeping Chris Cosh on his staff in football and forget bball.

11. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  14-7
Last Week's Results: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7 - Down four spots
What Joe Says: Three straight losses, HUGE game at home versus Missouri.

12. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  14-8
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 11 - Down one spot
What Joe Says: Hey it was fun early in the year, better times await the Cyclones.
