Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings - Week 1

Basketball has started, so that means it's time for the first Big 12 Hoops Power Rankings of the year! With no losses in the conference -- and zero marquee wins -- this is basically just a preseason polling.

T1. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record: 1-0
Last Week's Record:  1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Nathan Says: Jayhawks put the hurt on Towson Friday night. Non-conference schedule to get much tougher, starting with Kentucky tonight.

T1. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  2-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Nathan Says: Baylor looked good dominating a couple of SWAC opponents. Encouraging to see freshman Quincy Miller lead the team in scoring.

T1. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  2-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What E. Carnes Says: Even without Khris Middleton, the Aggies are looking strong. Plus, it's a great sign that Billy Kennedy was feeling well enough to sit on the bench in last Sunday's game against Southern.

4. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  2-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Evan Says: The SEMO game showed that Mizzou needs to improve their interior D or they'll get eaten up in the physical Big 12.

5. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record: 1-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What E. Carnes Says: The Horns may be young, but they looked pretty dominant in their J'Covan Brown-led routing of Boston University. It'll be interesting to see what they're like against tougher non-con opponents.

6. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record: 1-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Nathan Says: Fred Hoiberg's talented transfers beat a solid Lehigh team over the weekend. A possible tournament team.

7. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  2-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Evan Says: Narrow victory over Charleston Southern and a closer-than-the-score indicated win over Loyala (IL) wasn't how Frank Martin wanted to start the post-Pullen era.

8. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  1-0
Last Week's Results: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Evan Says: The Le'Bryan Nash era kicked off with a blowout win while Cezar Guerrero looks to be another great feshman.

9. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record: 1-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What Evan Says: The Sooners had to hold their breath in a narrow victory... over Idaho State

10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record: 1-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: N/A
What E. Carnes Says: Eeking by Southwestern Oklahoma by only 6 points is not the ideal way to kick off the season. But it's still early days in the Gillispie era.
