This will not be a fun game for Colorado. My guess is Kansas is going to have a fire lit under them after just falling apart against Texas. They just went through the motions after jumping out to an early lead. Texas was too physical on defense, leading to the collapse of one of the hottest shooting teams in the country.
I know Kansas was dealing with a very tough situation after Thomas Robinson's mother's death. Those situations are more difficult than I could begin to imagine (Duke's Andre Dawkins' season last year never recovered after his sister died in a car crash). He did not travel to Colorado, but he'll be in the team's (and our) thoughts during the game. Tragedies like that remind us that this is just basketball. That said, I don't think that's why Kansas lost that game. It was a factor, yes. But not the deciding factor.
On to the game at hand. Kansas is coming off a very disappointing home loss, and Colorado has tumbled in two straight road games--to Nebraska and Oklahoma no less--after a perfect start to Big 12 play. Both losses were on the road, but it's very clear that Colorado struggles in halfcourt sets when Alec Burks and Cory Higgins aren't having outstanding games. Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, Kansas will not only be playing with fire in the belly but also runs one of the more efficient halfcourt offenses in the country (also known as the Morris twins). I don't think there's any way the Buffaloes can slow down the Kansas frontcourt even trying to get out in transition.
But you never know. There are such things as slumps, especially on the road. With a couple of stellar performances and a sloppy transition game, Colorado might have a chance. Just don't hold your breath. The game is at 6:00 PM on the Big 12 Network.
Prediction: Kansas 84 - Colorado 66
