A quick look at the Iowa St. Cyclones conference record and you'd think the Missouri Tigers would have an easy time in their match up this evening. You might also think back to recent Clone teams and double your bet on the Tigers.
But looking a little further you see that Iowa State (14-5) is a good team, and had the ball bounced a few different ways, they might have a 3-1 conference record instead of their current 1-3 mark.
To sum up their conference season: Nebraska hit a free throw with four-tenths of a second remaining for their first conference loss, they dropped a five point loss to KU, behind 50 points from the Morris twins then defeated Baylor before losing to Oklahoma State in overtime. All in all you can see why Fred Hoiberg is in the discussion for conference coach of the year.
The Tigers have had their fart share of close defeats as well. Mizzou has dropped three games on the season, two of which came in overtime. Again, the ball bounces their way twice more times and you are looking at a team that is 18-1 instead of their current 16-3 clip, 2-2 in conference,
This one should be a dandy in front of a sold out Mizzou Arena crowd tonight. If you don't have tickets to the game, you can watch it nationally on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m. CT.
