It's pretty amazing that we had gone eight weeks without Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin winning a Big 12 NBA Player of the Week award, but he more than made up for the wait with an amazing week on the hardwood.
Over the past seven days Griffin averaged 27.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Griffin did so while shooting 65.2 percent from the field. Griffin also nearly average a block per game during the past week.
For Griffin to win the honor this week is quite an achievement as the Big 12 had several candidates in contention for the award.
Over the past week, Chauncey Billups of the Denver Nuggets averaged 25 points and 5.8 assists per game, LaMarcus Aldridge went for 23.7 ppg/ 7.7 rpg and Paul Pierce had 22 ppg, 5.7 rpg and six apg.
