If you want to find out official news and information from your favorite Big 12 athletic department, you are not alone.
Brian Bowsher, the Director of Marketing and Sales at Marquette, recently ran the numbers on official twitter followers throughout college athletics and it shows that Big 12 fans love their schools, in 140 characters or less.
The AD followed the most in the nation is Florida with 12,545 followers. Next in line is Kentucky and their 12,291 followers. The top followed Big 12 school are the Oklahoma Sooners who come in third nationally registering 9,197 followers.
Kansas comes in sixth, Mizzou 14th and Baylor 24th to round out Big 12 representation in the 25 most popular. Surprisingly, Texas, one of the largest schools in the country with one of the most rabid fanbases comes in 36th nationally, and falls behind the other three Texas schools in terms of followers.
Rumor has it that Nebraska's lack of followers led them to the Big 10, where the league promised more exposure.
