Big 12 Conference Basketball Power Rankings - Week 6

New, 7 comments

The very top and very bottom stayed the same, but lots of shuffling inbetween.

1. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  11-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - No movement
What Matt Says: The Jayhawks got a road win against Cal this week, but still haven't played much of a schedule.

T2. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  10-2
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 3 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: True to my word I moved the Longhorns to the top of my rankings this week after a great true road win over Michigan State.

T2. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  12-1
Last Week's Record:  2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - No movement
What Evan Says: It was nice to see Mizzou put teams away early after a few closer-than-should-be games. Another test on Wednesday in the Busch Braggin’ Rights game against Illinois.

4. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  11-1
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement:5 - Up two spots
What Evan Says: The Aggies always seem to be the team that people forget about. Well, at 11-1 people are starting to notice.

5. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  10-3
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - No movement
What Joe Says: Only 1 more game before Wildcats get Jacob Pullen back. This team could still be really good but also has a chance to be very mediocre.

6. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  11-1
Last Week's Results: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - Up one spot
What Joe Says: We will find out how good the Cowboys are this Friday against Gonzaga in Spokane.

7. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  8-3
Last Week's Record: 1-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4 - Down three spots
What Matt Says: Baylor got exposed at the Diamond Head Classic.  The Bears have lost all three of their legitimate games so far this season.

8. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  11-2
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - No movement
What Joe Says: Very interesting matchup this Thursday for Cyclones against Virginia in Charlottesville. Another chance for Cyclones to prove their worth.

9. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  10-2
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - No movement
What Joe Says: Well they are winning games but the Cornhuskers next two are against North Dakota & Savannah State so they oughta be.

10. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  8-4
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10 - No movement
What Evan Says: Solid win over Indiana. They need to work on defense though, as they allowed New Mexico to shoot 61 percent from the field.

11. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  6-6
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 11 - No movement
What Matt Says: Back to .500 is good news for the Sooners.

12. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  6-6
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - No movement
What Evan Says: Looky who evened their record at 6-6!
