In a couple of separate moves that Big 12 fans maybe have missed this past week, two former Big 12 players were recalled from the NBA D-League back up to their respective squads.
Sherron Collins, the former KU Jayhawk, was recalled back to the Charlotte Bobcats after a five game stint in the D-League playing with the Maine Red Claws. In five games for the Red Claws, Collins averaged 12.0 points and 3.6 assists. He rejoined the Bobcats and in their game on Tuesday night against Oklahoma City he scored 5 points in 14 minutes of game time.
Side note if anyone were to look at the box score of the Thunder-Bobcat game mentioned above you would see a pretty good Texas vs KU theme to it. This one game alone featured: Kevin Durant, D.J. Augustin & Royal Ivey from Texas and Nick Collison, Cole Aldrich & Collins from Kansas.
The other recent recall back up was Dexter Pittman to the Miami Heat. The former Longhorn had been playing with the Sioux Falls Skyforce where he had averaged 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds in eight starts. One amazing stat from two of those games is the fact that Pittman played in more than 40 minutes of game action, something many would find hard to believe after watching Pittman the past four seasons in the Big 12.
Hopefully both of these players can now stay up for their clubs and start getting some productive minutes.
