Big 12 Basketball Conference Power Rankings - Week 4

New, 4 comments

Interesting Power Rankings this week, as when you spell out our picks you find a three way tie for second in conference. Pretty indicative, I think, of the way things are shaping out during non-conference play.

1. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  9-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - No movement
What Matt Says: Jayhawks made a statement with the win over Memphis, but the Tigers' weaknesses played into their hands.

2. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  6-0
Last Week's Record: 0-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - No movement
What Matt Says: The Bears are still playing basketball... I think?

2. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  9-1
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 3 - Up one spot
What Joe Says: It may not be pretty but it's hard to argue with the final results as their only loss so far is to #1 team in country. Interesting to see how Wally Judge situation affects team, if at all.

2. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  8-1
Last Week's Record:  2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: The Vandy game was an all-timer. The Presbyterian game was an all-time snoozefest.

5. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  9-1
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - No movement
What Evan Says:  Signature win for the Aggies against the Washington Huskies vaulted them in the AP Top 25... and deservedly so.

6. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  7-2
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - No movement
What Matt Says: The Longhorns took care of business against Texas State. USC loss still hurts a lot.

7. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  9-1
Last Week's Results: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7 - No movement
What Joe Says:. Going to learn a lot about this team in December. Their next three games are against Alabama, Stanford & Gonzaga.

8. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  8-2
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - No movement
What Joe Says: The Huskers have already won 4 games in December and have four more easy games on schedule before opening with Iowa State in conference play.

9. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  9-2
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - No movement
What Joe Says: Maybe this Fred Hoiberg thing is gonna work out huh. The Cyclones have beaten most everyone's expectations, road win at Iowa showed toughness. If for no other reason people should watch this team to see Scott Christopherson shoot the ball.

10. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  5-3
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10 - No movement
What Evan Says:  The good: They beat in-state rivals Colorado St. Rams. The bad: It took them overtime in Boulder to do it.

11. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  5-5
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: The Sooners are at .500?  Even if they only beat Gardner Webb and Oral Roberts, it's an improvement.

12. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  5-5
Last Week's Record: 0-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 11 - Down one spot
What Evan Says: My mom always said that if I didn't have anything nice to say, to not say anything at all.
