Big 12 Basketball Conference Power Rankings - Week 2

New, 10 comments

1. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record:  6-0
Last Week's Record: 3-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 2 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: Kansas continued their dominance and passed their first test, beating Arizona. Selby just adds another weapon when he gets eligible.

2. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  5-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 3 - Up one spot
What Matt Says: Baylor still hasn't been tested. Dunn, Acy, and Jones are one of the most dangerous offensive trios in the country.

3. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  6-1
Last Week's Record: 2-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1 - Down two spots
What Joe Says: Frank Martin is continuing to rotate guys in and out of his doghouse. Jacob Pullen needs to step up every game.

4. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record:  5-1
Last Week's Record:  3-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5 - Up one spot
What Evan Says: Dr. Jekyl meet Mr. Hyde. The Tigers need to stop playing to their competition, but Tuesday's game against Georgetown showed that the Tigers can run with most schools in the country.

5. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record:  5-1
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4 - Down one spot
What Matt Says: Texas has two of the biggest wins in the conference, but struggled to beat in-state rival Rice this week.

6. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record:  6-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7 - Up one spot
What Joe Says: Well unfortunately things can probably only go downhill for Cyclones after the start they have had.

7. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  5-1
Last Week's Record: 2-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6 - Down one spot
What Evan Says:  Beating #20 Temple Owls might be the signature win in the Big 12 this non-conference (KU and UT fans have good reason to argue that point)

8. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  5-1
Last Week's Results: 2-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8 - No movement
What Joe Says:. Still not sure how good of a team the Cowboys are going to be this year. Win over DePaul was nice but OSU had plenty of chances to beat Virginia Tech and couldn't take advantage.

9. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Overall Record:  4-2
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - Up two spots
What Joe Says: Just when you thought this team might start going down the tubes they pull out a win over USC. Alot of winnable games coming up.

10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record:  5-3
Last Week's Record: 2-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10 - No movement
What Evan Says: Is this the worst coaching job in America, or are the Red Raiders just not as talented as we thought?

11. Colorado Buffaloes

Overall Record:  3-3
Last Week's Record: 2-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 12 - Up one spot
What Evan Says:  I hear that since nobody actually watched the CU vs. Harvard Crimson game, the Buffs are swearing it wasn't basketball, but rather an academic bowl they competed in.

12. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record:  3-3
Last Week's Record: 0-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9 - Down three spots
What Matt Says: Losing to Kentucky was OK. Losing to Virginia and Chaminade? Not so much...
