Iowa State really took care of business in Ames, beating Drake 91-43. Yikes. That's either really bad for Drake's prospectus, or we've overlooked Iowa State (unlikely). The highlight from the night is from Iowa State junior Scott Christopherson, who went an astounding 11-11 from the field (including 5-5 from downtown) and hit both of his foul shots for a whopping 29 points. That's unbelievable... I don't care who you're playing against. Diante Garrett and Melvin Ejim added 14 points apiece for Hoiberg's squad. And just like that Iowa State is 3-0. Next up are the Creighton Bluejays (who also sit on three wins). Great start for Iowa State so far.
In Stillwater, Oklahoma State won a much closer game against Texas A&M Corpus Christi 68-58. The Cowboys were up four at the break, but the game was tied with 10 minutes to go. Marshall Moses lead Oklahoma State with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Ray Penn came off the bench for 17 points. Darrell Williams struggled, going 2-13 from the field (although he did have 12 rebounds). Terrence Jones lead the Islanders with 18 points. Oklahoma State definitely wanted a more decisive victory, but in the end a win is a win. Next up for the Cowboys is a Nicholls State team fresh off an upset over LSU.
