Brian Diaz is Nebraska's presumptive starter at center after a season-ending knee injury to 6-11, 265-pound Christopher Niemann.
"Brian's not a quote-unquote low-post player," NU coach Doc Sadler said. "He's skilled out there. He's a better offensive player facing the basket.
"But he's going to get put down low. Offensively, he'll be fine. Defensively, the physical part of it will be a challenge."
Diaz said he accepts the challenge.
"I want to help our team," he said. "I want to win games. I want everybody to be proud of me, and I want to show I can play."
