With the 13th pick, Kansas Jayhawks forward Markieff Morris has been drafted by the Phoenix Suns.
Morris led the Big 12 in rebounding last season, and should continue to clean the glass at the next level. Though I don't project him to be a 10+ rebound per game guy, I can see him getting 6-8 boards a night and sustain a long, but probably unglamorous career.
Like his twin brother Marcus, Markieff will play power forward in the NBA, and like Marcus will extend defenses with an outside shooting touch.
Last season Markieff was second on the team in scoring, at 13.6 points per game, and led the team in rebounding at an 8.3 rebound per game clip.
Compared to his brother, at the combine, Markieff measured .75 of an inch taller and 10 pouonds heavier, while having a wingspan 2.5 longer than Marcus. These all should suit Markieff well at the next level, where he won't be able to force his way in the interior like he could against some of the smaller centers in college basketball.
