Big 12 NBA Draft History: With the 49th Overall Pick...

Stay connected for news and updates

Best Big 12 Player Drafted #49: Cory Carr, Texas Tech Red Raiders, by the Atlanta Hawks in 1998.
After playing one season in the NBA (the strike shortened 1999 season), Carr moved around from professional league to professional league, before settling in Israel, where the Arkansas native decided to become an Israeli citizen ten years later, in 2009.

Other Notable Big 12 Players Drafted 49th: None.

Best Non-Big 12 Player Drafted 49th: Leon Powe, Cal Bears, by the Denver Nuggets in 2006.
Powe has just a 6.3 career points per game average, but the power forward played a significant role off the bench for the 2007-08 NBA champion Boston Celtics.

In preparation for the 2011 NBA Draft, each day until June 23 we'll count down the best Big 12 player drafted with each pick. This list only takes into account players who played in the Big 12, so it starts with the 1997 draft. In total 70 Big 12 alumni have been selected, filling 43 of the 60 possible slots.
