BREAKING: Baylor’s Perry Jones III Ruled Ineligible For Tonight’s Game Against Oklahoma

Perry Jones III, the Baylor Bears' All Freshman sensation, has been ruled ineligible for tonight's Big 12 Tournament game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Question about whether Jones and his family received improper benefits surfaced and Jones has been suspended by the NCAA.

Jones immediately appealed and there is no word yet whether this will affect any future Big 12 Tournament or other potential post season tournament games.

On the season the Duncanville, Texas native is averaging 13.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.  Both stats rank him second on the Bears.

Earlier this week Jones was selected to the Big 12 All Freshman team as a unanimous selection. He is projected to be one of the first players taken in the 2011 NBA Draft, if he were to forgo his remaining three years of college eligibility.

Stay tuned as we will update the site with information as it becomes public.

There really isn't any other way

Of course

So far nobody has linked Drew or anyone associated with the Baylor program to the impermissible benefits. Supposedly it was Jones’s old AAU coach.

Right

I just meant in a general sense, Drew resurrected a doormat program in no time. Easier in basketball than other sports, but either he is a genius or ….

Funny assumption to make.

Am I saying Baylor isn’t cheating? No. But I have no idea either way.

And studs showing up in Manhattan, Kansas, is no stranger than them showing up in Waco. I haven’t heard any suggestions that Frank Martin is running a dirty program.

Agreed on Martin

But his predecessor Huggins opened the door to big name guys (Beasley) coming to the Little Apple.

I’m not saying there is anything fishy happening at either school, just makes you scratch your head.

More importantly

If he’s ineligible, the Bears can’t be this season’s biggest disappointment because their season didn’t happen!

Big fan of ACC and Big 12 basketball.
