Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings - Week 7
Another slow week because of the Christmas holiday makes the impact of each win and loss larger. But can you smell that? Yeah, it's conference play right around the corner!

1. Missouri TigersOverall Record: 12-0Last Week's Record: 1-0 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 1, same What Evan Says: The Braggin' Rights game looked like it'd be a blowout until the Tigers let Illinois back into it. In-game adjustments might be something to watch for Mizzou. |
2. Baylor BearsOverall Record: 12-0Last Week's Record: 2-0 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T2, same What Nathan Says: Nice win in OT vs an underrated West Virginia squad. Wednesday's Mississippi State game will be the toughest yet.. |
3. Kansas JayhawksOverall Record: 8-3Last Week's Record: 1-0 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T2, down one spot What Nathan Says: I had my doubts about this team early on, but if they finish the non-conference portion with only three losses, that's definitely something to be proud of.. |
4. Kansas St. WildcatsOverall Record: 10-1Last Week's Record: 3-0 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T5, up one spot What Evan Says: A 3-0 Hawaii showing helps K-State creep even closer to the top. Keep in mind their only loss was in 2OT to WVU, but that Jan 4 game in Lawrence looms large. |
5. Texas LonghornsOverall Record: 9-3Last Week's Record: 0-1 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5, down one spot What E. Carnes Says: An outmatched Texas went down hard to 6th-ranked UNC last week. Their next opponent should be easier to handle — the Longhorns face Rice on Saturday. |
6. Oklahoma SoonersOverall Record: 9-1 |
7. Texas A&M AggiesOverall Record: 8-3Last Week's Record: 0-1 Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T5, down two spots What E. Carnes Says: A promising start may be slipping away from A&M. The Aggie are on a two-game losing streak, first to Florida, then to Rice. |
8. Iowa St. CyclonesOverall Record: 9-3 |
9. Oklahoma St. CowboysOverall Record: 6-5 |
10. Texas Tech Red RaidersOverall Record: 5-5 |

Baylor
This will be the week we find a lot out about Baylor. If they beat Miss St, I think they are the clear favorite to win the big 12 if they can win consistenly on the road. Also, this week we will see how MU handles a true road game at ODU, I know ODU is not as strong as previous years but this team had a lot of trouble on the road last year so it will be a good final test before they play Oklahoma next tuesday. KSU couldnt have a harder start to conference so they will tested early with games at Kansas and home to Baylor and MU. I couldnt be more excited for the start of the big 12. I love the new format and should make for some great games.
Yep
It’ll all work itself out, starting next week, with a few teasers sprinkled in this week.
Oh man… next week!!!!

Oh
and if one thing the non con did was take away all intrigue into the first conference game. Remember in September when it was thought that A&M-Baylor to kick off the season might determine the conference champ?

YEAH
I do remember that. It seems that A&M is going to the wrong direction after the loss to Rice at home. They just can not score the ball and their defense is not as strong as last years. They should still finish in the top 5 but you never know how it will all turn out.
