Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings - Week 2

Not the best week for Big 12 teams. Drake and Oregon State upset conference schools. North Texas and UTSA both could have won. And the coaches preseason co-champions both lost, albeit to respectable opposition. Anyways, here's the latest Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings.

1. Baylor Bears

Overall Record:  3-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T1, same
What Nathan Says: The team is so good right now and they still need P.J. III to come back.

2. Kansas Jayhawks

Overall Record: 2-1
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T1, down one spot
What Nathan Says: A treacherous week ahead playing in the Maui Invitational. A win or two would make a successful trip.

3. Missouri Tigers

Overall Record: 4-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 4, up one spot
What Evan Says: Mizzou looked better against Notre Dame than they have in over a year.

4. Texas A&M Aggies

Overall Record:  3-1
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: T1, down three spots
What E. Carnes Says: The Aggies were definitely missing Middleton during their loss to Mississippi State and their narrow victory over St. John's.

5. Oklahoma St. Cowboys

Overall Record:  3-0
Last Week's Results: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 8, up three spots
What Evan Says: The narrow W over UTSA shows that the Pokes have a ways to go.

T6. Texas Longhorns

Overall Record: 2-2
Last Week's Record: 1-2
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 5, down one spot
What E. Carnes Says: J'Covan Brown is still on fire, but Texas' youth —including too many turnovers and a lack of power on the glass — was also on display during their overtime loss to Oregon State.

T6. Iowa St. Cyclones

Overall Record: 2-1
Last Week's Record: 1-1
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 6, same
What Nathan Says: n two games since his 25-point season opener, Royce White is averaging 19 points and 10.5 rebounds.

8. Kansas St. Wildcats

Overall Record:  2-0
Last Week's Record: 0-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 7, down one spot
What Evan Says: No games last week, so... uhhh...

9. Oklahoma Sooners

Overall Record: 2-0
Last Week's Record: 1-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 9, same
What Evan Says: The blowout win against Coppin St shows how important Steven Pledger is to the Sooners. Also, Mississippi St. transfer Romero Osby is looking like a hell of a pickup.

10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Overall Record: 3-0
Last Week's Record: 2-0
Last Week's Ranking/Movement: 10, same
What E. Carnes Says: The Red Raiders looked better in their win over Stephen F. Austin. If they keep this up, there could be some upward mobility for Gillispie's guys.

I wonder

if the fanbase is beginning to like what Haith is doing in Columbia

My mom sent my 16-month son a StL Cardinals World Series Championship hoody with a note “Life lesson: Everyone loves a winner”

So, yeah, I’d say Haith is warming up to Mizzou fans.

Two wins in Maui with the chance to play another elite team on the season for the Jayhawks.

Can’t complain yet. Will be interesting to see how they handle the game tonight.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
