DeAndre Daniels, the one-time Texas Longhorn recruit, is reportedly looking to finalize paperwork in order to enroll before the start of the second semester... but where he'll attend school is still kind of a mystery.
The top rated 2011 recruit not to have committed to a school is reportedly deciding between the Kansas Jayhawks and Kentucky Wildcats - after Texas fell off his radar - and is leaning towards moving to Lawrence, KS.
If Daniels does decide where to go before the start of the next round of classes, his intention is to enroll, but not suit up, before joining the team as a full member next fall. This speculation is corroborated on ZagsBlog.com by the Director of Basketball Operations at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.
“He is still training with us and he has an open invitation to stay at IMG should he decide to wait for the spring,” IMG basketball director Andy Borman said Tuesday night.
The the 6'8" forward took official visits to KU, UK and UT in December and, according to reports, is finalizing financial aid paperwork before declaring his allegiance to a school.
If Daniels commits to either Kansas, or less likely Texas, and assuming Ben McLemore will end up at either Kansas or Mizzou, the Big 12 will have secured five of the Rivals.com top 25 ranked players.
Fourth rated LeBryan Nash has committed to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys, fifth ranked Quincy Miller will join the Baylor Bears next season and 24th ranked Myck Kabongo will wear the uniform of the Texas Longhorns.
An announcement from Daniels is expected any day.
