How strong is Big 12 basketball on both the men’s and women’s sides?
That couldn’t have been more obvious after Saturday’s double-header in the Coors Events Center.
Consider this:
The men’s game featured two teams, Colorado and Iowa State, that were tied for 10th in the league standings. Nothing to get too excited about, right?
Well, as many as four future NBA players might have been on the court: guards Alec Burks and Cory Higgins for CU and forwards Craig Brackins and Marquis Gilstrap for Iowa State.
In the women’s contest, Texas A&M brought a No. 12 ranking in The Associated Press poll – despite entering the game with a Big 12 record of just one game over .500 (7-6).
Amazing.
