Week Five's Big 12 NBA Player of the Week is one of the conference's elder statesmen, Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce.
Drafted by the Celtics in 1998, the former Kansas Jayhawk is a future hall of famer, playing like it in a week where he averaged 19 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game. His numbers were boosted by shooting an amazing 61.8% from the field for the week, helping the Celtics go 3-0 with wins over the Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets.
For the season, Pierce leads the Celtics and Big Three in ppg, pouring in 19.6 a contest and is third on his team in defensive rebounds and assists.
