Big 12 Hoops - Preseason Predictions

Well, seeing as how Texas has already begun playing games that count, we figured it was the right time to reveal our preseason predictions. Now just remember that these were written in pencil, not pen, so we have the right to change our minds at any point in the season. Enjoy!

Seriously

Have you seen Tristan Thompson play? I wonder if he can keep it up all season, but that kid is LONG.

Agreed, Thompson looks really special.

What's funny is..

The top 6 are the same top 6, the middle three are the same and the bottom are the same. Just a matter of placement. That shows how important each W is in conference.

The Mayor...

If he can keep Iowa State out of the cellar, he deserves National Coach of the Year.

Nebraska might make that job too easy.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

No idea why I have this

but have a feeling that Neb will be a little better than people think, now how good I can’t say but better than given credit for

Isn't 2 wins

“better than people think”? And they play ISU twice and OU once. Maybe?

They could be.

Sadler has a reputation as a pretty good x’s and o’s guy and maybe this year those things start showing through more consistently.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

I like Colorado's top end talent, just not sure if they can put it together with 5 guys for that kind of season.

Between leaving the Big 12 and a new coach, I’ll have to see a successful season to believe it. A few upsets wouldn’t shock me at all from them though.

What is your thought on new coach at CU?

Obviously haven’t seen him coach a game yet in Big 12 but my first thought when Bzdelik left was that is was a good thing for CU.

Really?

After seeing his success at Air Force, I’ve been a fan. Colorado’s never been worth a damn at basketball and their group’s fairly talented now, so he was starting to get it moving. That being said, I don’t see him sticking around any one place real long and wouldn’t be thrilled with him at Kansas.

I really haven’t paid much attention to the new coach but as we’re learning (KU fans), coaching changes don’t always go smoothly.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Just seemed

They needed a new more upbeat style than what Bzdelik had in place.

The Buffs have major interior struggles. I think Kansas (assuming Marcus Morris shows he can take over games), Baylor, and maybe K-State will be able to pummel them inside.

That said, if Thompson keeps playing like he is and Jordan Hamilton can keep averaging 20 ppg, it’d be tough to argue Colorado over Texas.

Texas is going to better than I thought they were going to be, it looks like. I would have had them 5th or so, but I think they can finish 3 or 4, especially if Dunn is out for a time. What is the latest on him?

Last I heard

He was eligible to practice but not play. I think that’s what it was…

No timetable right now for his return, according to my source (which is me)

Cool. That’s what I thought it was but it has been a while since it was in the news.

Rick Barnes

and his staff can recruit that is for sure. With the struggles of the football team down in Austin I wonder if that puts more or less pressure on Barnes this year to improve upon the disaster of last year.
