Big 12 Alumni on NBA Rosters

Watch an NBA game and there is a good likelihood you'll see a Big 12 alumni in uniform. As of the start of training camp, 52 hoopsters who called the Big 12 home were on NBA rosters.

Not surprisingly, the Kansas Jayhawks lead the pack with 13 former student-athletes employed by NBA teams. Texas is a close second, with 11 former players. The only school who probably shouldn't use the NBA as a recruiting pitch is Nebraska, who has nobody in the Association.

If you want to get the most bang for your Big 12 buck, watch any of the 4 match-ups between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies, as 6 guys will suit up for the Thunder and 5 for the Grizzlies.  All told, 23 of the 30 NBA teams are carrying Big 12 alumni.

See a complete list of all Big 12ers on NBA rosters after The Jump. And for your enjoyment they are listed both by NBA team and also by college.

Overall Career

I think you would have to go with Paul Pierce right now, do the vote again in 15 years and very very likely it’s Durant

Agreed

NBA GMs just voted Durant preseason MVP. The way he dominated the FIBAs was amazing.

Also agreed.

Though I think there’s an enticing argument that Durant is already better. Being scoring champion puts him in quite the exclusive group, a group Pierce will never be a part of.

Back on the scene, crispy and clean.

Although

I would say at this point, I may still choose Pierce over Durant to have on my team for a playoff series

For a school that is demanding $20 million...

…you would think A&M would have had more players in the NBA….

The list..

also either shows that with the lack of Baylor names on the list, Scott Drew is the greatest recruiter in the world, or that we should be scratching our heads at how he can bring the talent he brings to Waco.
